PEORIA – Fedora’s Pizza & Gyros has been closed since mid-May following a death in the family but expects to have a reopening date set soon.
Fedora’s founder Paul Khourisader began the business near Bradley University in 1986, eventually moving the Peoria location to McClure Avenue. He operated a second Fedora’s storefront – since closed – in Chillicothe.
A Journal Star Dining Out story from 2003 noted: “It’s hard to leave Fedora’s without the owner stopping by your table. He loves people, and he loves food. That’s a winning combination.”
Khourisader passed away on May 15 at the age of 87.
The longtime local pizza place – situated at 1229 W. McClure Ave. – also attributed the closure to maintenance issues. In a May 4 post to the business’ Facebook page, Fedora’s wrote “we appreciate your patience. We will let you know soon when we will reopen.”
