Lighted Halloween Parade is among 14 events this weekend in the Galesburg area

The weekend brings the Raise the Roof fundraiser, Etta May, and a Lighted Halloween Parade, along with fundraisers, live music and more to the Galesburg area.

What: Kick back and enjoy wine and cocktails at Innkeeper’s Coffee with a live music performance by Doug Owen.

When: 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10

Printmaking: Collagraphs

What: Collagraph plates create richly textured prints by layering—and even cutting into—materials like fabric, string, cardboard and found objects. Explore how various surfaces hold ink to produce bold, dynamic images. This hands-on process is approachable for all skill levels and encourages playful experimentation with texture, composition and printing techniques.

Adult Pickleball Lessons

What: This class is designed for adult players who are new to the game. It will cover the fundamentals of scoring, serving, point play and dinking. Come dressed to play and bring a water bottle.

Whoo Wooden Owls

What: Create your own wooden owl in the art studio.

Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser

What: Habitat for Humanity of Knox County is teaming up with Hidden Hills Vineyard for a day engagement and community. “Raise the Roof” is an opportunity for all to support safe, affordable housing for local families. Enjoy yoga on the lawn, live music, food trucks, wine slushies, raffle prizes and more. Entry fee includes two glasses of wine. All proceeds help build safe, affordable housing for families in need.

When: 11:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11

Where: Hidden Hills Vineyard & Winery, 120 Hidden Drive, Knoxville

Cost: $20

Fish & Chicken Fry

What: Carry-out is available for the 37th Annual Fish & Chicken Fry from 4:30-6:00 p.m. or dine-in from 5-8 p.m. Call in orders but do not leave a message. To pick up orders enter the south end of the alley on SE Second Street and exit onto Rt. 17. Buy raffle tickets for a dollar each for the opportunity to win $100, $200 or $300 in cash. You do not need to be present to win.

When: 4:30-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11

Lombard & Knox Colleges tour

What: The tour is given by Rex Cherrington with the aid of others from Galesburg Historical Society. The tour’s title is “Lombard College and Knox College, the Friendly Rivalry, Comparisons and Contrasts.” It begins in front of the former Lombard College, which is now a middle school. Walking will be for about 3/4 mile and on all flat surfaces. There will be stops at several residences and mentions of where Lombard buildings once were. All are welcome.

Lighted Halloween Parade

What: The parade goes down Main Street, then up Jefferson Street and returns to the fairgrounds. Anything on wheels goes — decorate it, light it up and roll through town. Costumes are encouraged and music is welcome. Bring your Homecoming floats to enjoy them for two weekends. Toss candy during the parade or save it to hand out afterward at the trunk or treat. Go quietly and without any flashing lights during the final turn onto Main Street for families to enjoy the lights and magic. After the parade, join us at 8 p.m. at the fairgrounds for Trunk or Treat, complete with games hosted by Key Club.

Etta May

What: Etta May has performed her brand of clean-comedy on Oprah, Showtime, Comic Strip Live, MTV, and as a guest commentator on “CBS Sunday Morning.” Winner of the prestigious American Comedy Awards “Comic of the Year,” she headlines the all-female comedy tour, “Etta May and the Southern Fried Chicks.” Think Blue Collar Comedy Tour with better hair and a bigger attitude. In addition to television, Etta May is a regular on Sirius-XM Comedy Channels and the syndicated Bob & Tom radio show.

Make & Take Floral Class

What: Blaine will help you design your own fall pumpkin arrangement to take home and enjoy. There is limited seating so call to reserve your spot.

James Herr and Sarah Marie Dillard

What: Enjoy live music from James Herr and Sarah Marie Dillard. Wine, beer and soda will be available. Food and snacks are available for purchase. Guests age 20 and younger are allowed when accompanied with an of-age adult.

Second Saturdays: Harvest Fun

What: Let’s talk about fall! Learn some fun fall facts, take a nature hike and decorate a small pumpkin with items you collect. Pumpkins will be available for the first 20 children/participants. All ages are welcome.

Songbag Concert Series: Anna P.S.

What: East coast born and raised, Midwest-influenced and rooted, Anna p.s. continues to captivate audiences across the nation with storytelling, introspective lyrics and the humor encompassed in the everyday and the mundane of the human experience.

Final Fling: Neon Nova

What: Neon Nova will rock the Sound Garden one last time before the weather changes on this Sunday Funday.

Swim & Gym

What: Spend your first day of fall break at the Swim & Gym! Enjoy swimming on the Wibit and the option of watching a movie in the golf simulator room or playing in the gym. Parents can drop children off by 1:30 p.m. at the gym. Pickup time is between 3:50 and 4 p.m. at the gym. The event is for ages 9-15.

Fall Nature Hike

Sculpting Wire Figures

Kids Craft Workshop

Jazz Night

What: Join in this Galesburg tradition that is more than 30 years strong at its new venue. All ages are welcome. The Fall Jazz Series aims to bring dynamic jazz voices from the region and beyond to Galesburg. Throughout Fall term, different guest artists will hold workshops/conversations with attendees, then there will be a performance with the Cherry St. Combo. On Oct. 16, hear New York-based drummer, Matt Wilson, who has released 13 albums as a leader, appeared on more than 400 others as a sideman and has played with an impressive array of some of the most legendary names in jazz, including Wynton Marsalis, Lee Konitz, Joe Lovano, Pat Metheny, Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden, John Scofield, Joanne Brackeen and Herbie Hancock. Wilson was named 2018 Musician of the Year by the Jazz Journalists Association. His album, “Honey And Salt” (with music inspired by the poetry of Carl Sandburg), won the JJA’s Album of the Year Award. That recording and his previous, “Beginning of a Memory,” accomplished the rare feat of an artist receiving consecutive 5-star (masterpiece) reviews from DownBeatmagazine. Also a renowned educator, he is on a tireless mission to foster a lively and deep connection between music and people, whether playing or listening to it.

Ultimate Tri-Sport Challenge

What: The Ultimate Tri-Sport Challenge is an action-packed event that challenges participants across pickleball, cornhole and frisbee golf. This combines strategy and fun for ages 8-14.

Where: Lakeside Recreation Facility, 1033 South Lake Storey Road, Galesburg
