A former journalist with WMBD-TV has found a new home in Iowa.
Sheridan Hertig announced she is joining KWQC TV6 News in Davenport as the station’s morning co-anchor and reporter. She will officially start June 3.
“I’m excited to begin this next chapter in Davenport and continue growing both professionally and personally,” she said. “Being from the Midwest, it’s important to me to stay connected to communities like the ones that shaped me. I’m looking forward to meeting new people, telling meaningful stories, and becoming part of the Quad Cities community.”
Hertig’s last day with WMBD was in mid-April. She came to the station 10 years ago as a digital reporter and grew into roles as a nightside reporter before becoming a morning anchor. She posted on Facebook last month that, “This isn’t the ending I imagined, but I’m so proud of what we built.”
“This chapter meant more to me than I can put into words,” she said April 17 in a Facebook post announcing that it was her last day on air for WMBD. “Every early morning, every late night, every story, I gave it my whole heart. It’s been an honor to be part of this community and to be welcomed into your homes. This was where my journalistic journey began and I’ll never forget that.”
While she is excited about her new job and new opportunities, she said it is difficult to leave Peoria.
“Over the years, I’ve learned invaluable lessons about journalism, storytelling, and community,” Hertig said. “I’ve also been fortunate to work alongside incredible coworkers and mentors who challenged me, supported me, and helped shape my career. After nearly a decade in Peoria, this city truly feels like home, and I’ll always be grateful for the people and experiences that made such a lasting impact on my life.”
