Peoria Notre Dame’s Ryleigh Bennett was voted the 2026 Peoria-area fans’ choice for preseason high school girls soccer player of the year, beating out 11 other nominees.
Bennett earned 31.2 percent of the just over 2,400 votes. She outdistanced Addy Blake of Morton, who earned 18.57 percent. Victoria Aberle from Washington earned 16.58 percent. No other nominee got more than 7.0 percent of the vote.
Voting ran through noon Tuesday, April 7. This vote has no bearing on who will be selected the Journal Star athlete of the year or will make the annual all-area team, which are scheduled to be announced after the season.
