As one of the most famous and notorious teams in NFL history, the Chicago Bears captivated the football world in 1985, not only with their dominant defense but with the Super Bowl Shuffle dance and song that went global.
Viral before viral was a thing, the ’85 Bears became one of the most popular teams in the NFL due to their high-powered defense, running back Walter Payton, and a tune that would never be forgotten.
Forty years later, HBO will be honoring the legendary football team and the Super Bowl Shuffle, with a film set to release on Thanksgiving. Watch the trailer below to get a sneak peak of “The Shuffle” as HBO takes a deep dive into how the Super Bowl Shuffle came about and how it captivated the entire football and pop culture world back in 1985.
The lone Super Bowl championship team in Bears history will always be remembered for how they played on the field and performed as a group off of it, as well. It’s great to remember such a legendary team, but also serves as a reminder of the pain that Bears fans have had to endure since, and hopes that with Ben Johnson now leading the charge at head coach, the Super Bowl drought can come to an end sooner rather than later.
