Bears HC Ben Johnson explains why he took shirt off after Eagles win

After the Chicago Bears upset the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on Black Friday, head coach Ben Johnson delivered a rousing postgame locker room speech that ended with him taking his shirt off and delivering his “Good, Better, Best” chant.

Johnson had good reason for taking his shirt off. After all, when Chicago staple “The Weiners Circle” offers free hotdogs for the city in exchange, it’s the right thing to do. (FYI: Those free hot dogs are being given out on Tuesday).

On Monday, Johnson was asked about his decision to take off his shirt after last Friday’s win over the Eagles after previously saying he wouldn’t do it. And he just felt like it was the right time to do it.

“That was a spur of the moment deal, I guess,” Johnson said. “I figured the sooner the better, because I am not in the weight room very much anymore and so this thing keeps getting a little bit worse as we go along in the season. So, it was good, man. I hate to draw attention away from our players, but the intent was to bring up the city of Chicago and hopefully it gave them a little excitement because they’re a big part of this journey as we’re going through this season also. So, wanted to bring attention to them.”

This is the second time this season that “The Weiners Circle” has given out free hot dogs. The first time was back in Week 3, when quarterback Caleb Williams threw four touchdowns in a win over the Dallas Cowboys. And given the Bears’ success, it’s hard to imagine this is the last time this will happen.
