Here’s a list of places in the Rockford area that have announced closures for Jan. 23 because of the extreme cold warning, during which temperatures are expected to drop to -13 degrees.
Rockford Public Schools
All Rockford Public Schools will be closed. All after-school activities will also be cancelled including Y Care. The RPS 205 Administration Building, Sterling Holley, and Operations Support Center will be open.
Rock Valley College
All Rock Valley College buildings will be closed. RVC will move to virtual learning and a remote workday. All in-person events will be cancelled.
Harlem School District
All Harlem School District schools will be closed. All activities are canceled on Friday.
Belvidere School District
All Belvidere School District schools will be closed. This will be a traditional emergency/snow day with no remote learning. Central Office will also be closed to the public and all before and after school activities, including our care programs, will be canceled for the day.
Freeport School District
All Freeport School District schools will be closed. This is not an e-learning day. School is canceled, and this day will be made up.
Highland Community College
Highland Community College will be closed. All classes are canceled. Students may still access online classes and ROAR services.
Rockford Park District
All Rockford Park District facilities will be closed.
Cherry Valley Village Hall
Cherry Valley Village Hall will be closed.
Rockford Christian School
Rockford Christian School will be closed. There will be no instruction and all before-school activities at both campuses are canceled, including extended care.
Rockford Lutheran School
Rockford Lutheran School will be closed. All classes are canceled. All Friday games and practices are canceled. Decisions regarding Saturday practices and games will be shared via email midday Friday.
Boys & Girls Club
All Boys & Girls Club of Rockford sites will be closed. All programs are canceled for the day.
Discovery Center Museum
Rockford’s Discovery Center Museum will be closed.
RAMP
Regional Access & Mobilization Project or RAMP’s offices will be closed. Consumers will be served virtually.
YWCA Northwestern Illinois
YWCA Northwestern IL will be closed. The team will be available remotely during normal business hours.
Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful
Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful recycling centers will be closed Jan. 24.
