The No. 10-seeded Florida State Seminoles and Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will resume their game on Sunday at Dick Howser Stadium in the Tallahassee Regional.
FSU (38-18) leads the game 2-1 entering the top of the sixth after two weather delays forced them to reschedule the game for Sunday morning, with the field unplayable due to the rain. It is an elimination game, with the loser’s season ending and the winner advancing to play on Sunday.
The Chanticleers took a 1-0 lead in the third on a single before the first delay in the bottom of the fourth. The Seminoles came out aggressive after the delay, scoring one run in the bottom of the inning on a Nathan Cmeyla double before Cal Fisher gave them the lead in the fifth with a solo home run. FSU has five hits and two walks, but has hit into two double plays and stranded three runners.
Both teams started their ace in the game, and both lived up to the hype before the first weather delay ended their outings early. Wes Mendes allowed one run for FSU in four innings on two hits, a walk, and two hit by pitches. He struckout eight batters and had thrown just 51 pitches. Cameron Fluckey was just as good for Coastal Carolina, allowing one run in 3.2 innings on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
