PEKIN — Team Peoria won the 26th Junior River Cup this weekend at Lick Creek Golf Club, defending its title in the premier junior golf event in the Peoria area.
Peoria won the weekend 10-8, maintaining the edge it earned on Saturday during best-ball play. Team Tazwood leads the overall series 17-6, but Team Peoria now has won two in a row.

What is the River Cup?
The River Cup, which began in 1993, is an annual event used to promote golf in the Peoria area. It pits the best amateur golfers from Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties, split into two teams to represent each side of the Illinois River. The junior event began in 2000.
