As the nation marks its 250th anniversary, Palm Beach County residents will have the chance to view fireworks during the Independence Day celebrations taking shape in two municipalities.
Both West Palm Beach and Lake Worth Beach will feature live music, food and beverage vendors and family-friendly activities as part of their holiday celebrations.
In West Palm Beach
The city’s annual 4th on Flagler event will run from 5 to 10 p.m. July 4 along the downtown West Palm Beach waterfront on Flagler Drive.
The event will feature live entertainment across three stages, a flag-unfurling ceremony, a children’s area and food vendors. Fireworks are scheduled for 9 p.m., following a laser show, as part of an 18-minute display over the Intracoastal Waterway.
The West Palm Beach celebration will be broadcast from 9 to 9:30 p.m. on WPBF 25.
Among the event’s sponsors are the Town of Palm Beach and Florida Crystals, a Fanjul Corp. company led by Palm Beach residents and brothers José “Pepe” Fanjul and Alfonso “Alfy” Fanjul Jr.
Parking for the West Palm Beach events will be available in city garages, including City Center, Clematis, Banyan, Evernia and Sapodilla. Blankets and lawn chairs are recommended.
In Lake Worth Beach
The city’s Fourth of July Celebration will begin at 6 p.m. at Bryant Park, 100 S. Golfview Road, just south of the Lake Worth Bridge and Lake Avenue.
Food vendors will be on site. Live music is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., and a parachute demonstration is set for 7:45 p.m. A drone show will begin at 9 p.m., followed by fireworks at 9:15 p.m. over the Intracoastal Waterway.
Parking will be available at 1121 Lucerne Ave., 1013 Lucerne Ave., 7 Dixie Highway, 12 N. J St., 414 Lake Ave., 18 S. K St. and 8 S. L St.
Earlier in the day, Lake Worth Beach will host its annual Great American Raft Race, beginning with a parade along Lake Avenue at 10 a.m. and followed by the race at noon at the Bryant Park boat ramp.
Lake Worth Bridge closure
The Lake Worth Bridge will be closed 8-10 p.m. on July 4. Drivers heading east who want to access the Lake Worth Bridge will be detoured on Federal Highway to Second Avenue North, then eastbound to the bridge. Once the bridge is closed for the fireworks display, all bridge traffic will be detoured northbound on Federal Highway to access the Southern Boulevard Bridge. All traffic on State Road A1A will be detoured either north to the Southern Boulevard Bridge or south to the Lantana Bridge.
