The Florida State Seminoles softball team had another strong week, sweeping the Boston College Eagles to win the ACC regular-season championship and clinch the top seed in the ACC Tournament later this week. The three wins caused them to keep climbing in the polls, despite losing to the Florida Gators earlier in the week.
The Seminoles’ ranking improved one spot in Softball America’s Week 14 Top 25, and they are now the No. 7 team in the country. They are 46-8 overall and 21-3 in conference play.
FSU lost to Florida 4-3 on Tuesday to start the week. The two rivals split the season series, with the home team winning each game. They then responded by sweeping Boston College in dominant fashion, outscoring them 26-0 over three games. Jazzy Francik set the tone with a no-hitter on Friday, with FSU’s pitchers allowing just five hits in the series.
The Seminoles are still the highest-ranked ACC team, ahead of the No. 11 Duke Blue Devils. No. 15 Stanford, No. 18 Virginia Tech, No. 20 Louisville, and No. 22 Clemson give the ACC six teams in the top 25. All eight of FSU’s losses have come against ranked opponents.
FSU is set to start its run at the ACC Tournament on Thursday when they play either the Notre Dame Fighting Irish or Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, both of whom it swept this season. The game is set to start at 11 a.m. ET and will be on the ACC Network.
