Florida State softball finished the 2026 season among the nation’s top programs, earning a spot in the final Softball America Top 25 rankings released following the conclusion of the Women’s College World Series, where the Texas Longhorns swept Texas Tech Red Raiders.
The Seminoles checked in at No. 17 in Softball America’s final rankings, falling 10 spots after failing to advance out of the Tallahassee Regional. The ranking comes after Florida State captured the ACC Regular Season and Tournament Championships, finishing with a 52-10 record.
Much of Florida State’s success was driven by one of the nation’s most talented rosters. Shortstop Isa Torres emerged as one of the biggest stars in college softball, earning D1Softball National Player of the Year honors after a historic season in which she hit a school-record .530 while collecting numerous All-America accolades. Ashtyn Danley also earned national recognition following another standout campaign in the circle and at the plate.
The Seminoles continued to collect postseason honors even after their season concluded. Torres was named a First Team All-American and later became just the third player in program history to earn a Rawlings Gold Glove Award. Florida State also saw freshmen Makenna Sturgis and Anna Hinde earn Freshman All-American recognition, highlighting the program’s depth and future potential.
While a No. 17 final ranking may fall short of Florida State’s ultimate goal of returning to the Women’s College World Series, it serves as another reminder of the consistency the program has maintained under Alameda. The Seminoles have remained a fixture in the national rankings and continue to be one of the most respected programs in college softball.
With several key contributors expected to return and another highly regarded recruiting class on the way, Florida State will likely enter the 2027 season with expectations of once again competing among the nation’s top teams. The final Softball America rankings provide a closing snapshot of a season that featured championship moments, national awards, and another strong showing from one of the ACC’s premier programs.
