What did PFF think of Buccaneers' Emeka Egbuka in Week 11?

Emeka Egbuka has looked like he is going to be one of the future weapons of the Bucs offense. The pick that shocked everyone in round one is looking like a homerun through four weeks of the season, as the former Ohio State Buckeye is among the league leaders in several categories.

But of course, there is always more to see besides what the box score and TV tell us. To get some added context, we can turn to Pro Football Focus for that.

PFF’s Dalton Wasserman took a deep dive into the work of all 32 first-round draft picks who played in Week 11 this past weekend. PFF offers us some deeper insight into the performance, and Wasserman was able to lay out what Egbuka’s work looked like.

Wasserman writes, “Egbuka reeled in five passes against the Bills this week, but none gained more than 10 yards and he picked up just one first down in the process. He also dropped his sixth pass of the season, the most among all rookies, which partially explains his 56.2 PFF receiving grade. Egbuka has recorded fewer than 60 receiving yards in four of his past five games.”

Egbuka registered one of his lowest PFF grades of the year when he secured a disappointing 56.4. His season average has been 71, so it was a tad below what the team has expected out of him. That being said, the team scoring 32 points with him being contained is a good sign for others’ potential.
