Athlete of the Week Nominees
Chloe Bailey, Niceville: Covered in hives after an allergic reaction and forced to pitch on no days rest, Bailey gutted out eight innings in an extra-inning 5-4 win over Chiles to send Niceville to the Final 4. The junior struck out seven and allowed four runs on eight hits and a pair of walks to earn the win.
Parker Granse, South Walton: A day after earning a six-out save against Miami Springs in the 3A state semifinal, Granse earned the win in the state title game by stranding the bases loaded in the seventh innings.
Sydney Hann, Niceville: The freshman delivered back-to-back nights to send the Eagles to the Final 4, belting an opposite field home run in the region semifinals and then walking it off with an RBI double to right-center in the region championship.
Hudson Quinn, South Walton: With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the seventh inning of the 3A state championship game, the senior delivered a suicide squeeze to score Declan Fowler and give South Walton baseball its first-ever state title.
