Need ideas for where to spend National Doughnut Day this week? You might be close to these hot spots.
DoorDash put out a list of 100 top-rated local donut shops across the United States, with two shops from Florida appearing on the list.
“Donut shops are true neighborhood institutions that people return to week after week,” Ruth Isenstadt, head of U.S. restaurants at DoorDash, said in a news release. “National Donut Day is a chance to celebrate the local shops that turn ordinary mornings into something special.”
The list was compiled from customer reviews between April 2025 and 2026 and includes stores in 25 states. Shops had to have at least 1,000 reviews to be eligible.
Here’s a look at Florida’s top-rated donut shops.

When is National Doughnut Day? Mark your calendars
National Doughnut Day is always on the first Friday in June, which is June 5, 2026.
According to National Day Calendar, the seemingly random holiday actually originates from the World War I era. A group of women, often referred to as Lassies, was sent to the front lines in France by the Salvation Army, and they began making home-cooked food for the troops.
“It was during this time, the Lassies began handing out a sweet baked treat that would become known as the Salvation Army Doughnut,” it reports. “The story says the doughnuts were cooked inside the helmets of the troops, dubbing them as “doughboys”, which was a standard term used for donut. The Donut Lassies are said to be reason we have National Doughnut Day today.”
