After an Easter Sunday social media f-word post and a messianic image of him as a healer drew fierce backlash, President Donald Trump doubled down on the religious imagery April 15 with a visual depicting him with Jesus Christ.
This time, however, the president was reposting an image first circulated on X, formerly Twitter, by a user named “Irish for Trump.”
In that AI-generated photo, Trump has his eyes shut as he leans into Jesus, who also has his eyes closed and is embracing the president. Their foreheads tenderly touch as the two are engaged in either prayer, meditation or simply comforting each other.
“The Radical Left Lunatics might not like this, but I think it is quite nice!!! President DJT,” Trump wrote with the post, which had its own caption by the Irish for Trump user that read: “I was never a very religious man .. but doesn’t it seem , with all these satanic , demonic , child sacrificing monsters being exposed … that God might be playing his Trump card !”
What the writer is referring to is not clear.
But the Trump administration has drawn fire for not fully complying with a 2025 law requiring the full release and publication of serial rapist and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, who preyed on underage girls for a period of decades. The controversy is among the reasons that Pam Bondi was fired from her position as U.S. attorney general on April 2.
On his Truth Social account, the majority of the comments to the post were favorable and exalting memes and images offered by user accounts.
One user wrote of the president’s critics: “The only reason these trolls are melting down is because Trump is actually doing what he said he would do.”
Another, however, seemingly noted the gap in achieving justice for victims saying: “It would be nice if we could start getting some arrests of these satanic pedophile monsters sir …. that would really help with the base right now.”
The president sparked a firestorm of anger on April 12 by circulating an image of himself dressed like Jesus. Trump later deleted the post and claimed he was portraying himself as a healing doctor.
