Former Bucs top draft pick retires after five seasons

The Bucs have taken some chances to improve their pass-rush in recent years. Free agency has been minor swings, but a major draft investment was made when the team drafted Joe Tryon-Shoyinka. On Tuesday, he was placed on the retirement list by the Philadelphia Eagles.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport was the first to report the news.

Tryon-Shoyinka retires from the NFL at the age of 27. He was selected No. 32 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Bucs after he played three years of college football at Washington. His college production (9.5 sacks in two seasons) set a pace his NFL career never matched, as he recorded 15 sacks in six seasons.

He ends his career with 160 tackles, 15 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 82 games and 45 starts for the Bucs, Bears, and Browns.
