The deadline to register to vote in Florida’s primary election this year and help decide who will be the candidates for governor on November’s ballot is fast approaching.
If you’re already registered, Monday, July 20, is also the deadline to make any changes to your registration, such as your address or party affiliation.

When is Florida’s primary election in 2026?
The primary election day is Tuesday, Aug. 18. Early voting statewide begins Aug. 8, and some counties may allow voting even earlier.
The deadline to register to vote or change your party affiliation is Monday, July 20.
The deadline to request a mail-in ballot is Thursday, Aug. 6.
When is the 2026 general election in Florida?
The general election will be on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The mandatory early voting period runs from Oct. 24 – 31.
The deadline to register to vote for that election, if you haven’t registered yet, is Monday, Oct. 5.
The deadline to request a mail-in ballot is Thursday, Oct. 22.
What can you do to make sure you’ll be able to vote in Florida?
Starting next year, you’ll need proof of citizenship to register to vote or make changes to your voter registration in Florida. Before then, here are some steps you can take to make sure any effects on your ability to vote will be minimal.
