Three local softball programs qualify for FHSAA state playoffs

The high school softball postseason has arrived, and Bay County has three teams that received seeding in Friday afternoon’s FHSAA state playoff bracket release show.

Regional quarterfinals for Classes 1A-4A will be played May 6, while Classes 5A-7A will compete May 7.

The semifinals will follow, with Rural classification games set for May 7 and Classes 1A-7A on May 12. Rural finals are scheduled for May 12, with Classes 1A-7A to be played May 14.

State championships for all classes are scheduled for May 19-23 at Boombah-Soldiers Creek Park in Longwood.

Class 2A

May 6: No. 1 North Bay Haven vs. No. 8 Florida High

North Bay Haven, the top overall seed in Class 2A Region 1 for the second straight season, will host Florida High, a district champion.

May 6: No. 4 Bozeman vs. No. 5 Bolles

Bozeman will host Bolles after finishing as district runner-up to North Bay Haven. The teams are on the same side of the bracket and would meet in the second round if both win their opening games.

Class 4A

May 6: No. 4 Arnold vs. No. 5 Clay

Arnold will travel to face district champion Clay as coach Ricci Green begins his final postseason before retiring.
