Thousands of people braved a bit of inclement weather on Saturday night, Dec. 6, to soak up the good cheer provided by the city of DeLand’s annual Christmas parade.
The special guests this year were of the four-legged variety. The Budweiser Clydesdales participated in the parade, but had to remain inside their motorized semi-trucks due to the wet conditions.
The parade, supported by the Rotary Clubs of DeLand, has been a tradition for more than 70 years, organizers say, and has “grown into one of the community’s most cherished events, drawing tens of thousands of spectators and over 100 festive entries each year.”
The parade, which wound along Woodland Boulevard, lasted well over an hour and featured visits by city officials and other well-known locals, and was capped off by St. Nick himself.
