Authorities continue their search for a shooter on the loose more than a week after two men were shot to death in Naples.
An incident report from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office identified the victims as Raul Rojas, 28, and Juan Ruiz-Perez, 25, both of Naples.
According to the report, just before 9:45 p.m. March 8, sheriff’s deputies responded to the 11400 block of Whistler’s Cove Circle to reports of a person “laying on the ground bleeding from the face.”
When authorities arrived, they found a pickup parked at an angle in a parking lot. They found Rojas slumped over in the driver’s seat with the pickup parked and running.
Authorities then found Ruiz-Perez on the ground near the driver’s side. Officials recovered two spent shell casings from the ground.
Ruiz-Perez did not have a pulse, while Rojas had a “weak pulse,” according to the sheriff’s office. Both died.
Michelle Batten, spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, said the investigation remains active. No arrests were made by publication.
‘Parked like really slanted’
A witness who called 911 told a dispatcher she had just arrived home from work and saw a pickup “parked like really slanted.”
She said the incident happened a day after she had a “situation” in her apartment where she could have been in danger.
The 911 call lasted close to four minutes.
The witness said she could see someone outside the pickup bleeding from their face. She said she did not know how long prior Ruiz-Rojas had been shot.
According to the witness, no one else was near the pickup.
