After being a surprisingly late scratch ahead of the Indiana’s (3-2) 90-73 win over the Portland Fire (2-3) on Wednesday night, will former Iowa women’s basketball legend and Fever star point guard Caitlin Clark playing Friday night against the Golden State Valkyries (3-1)?
Clark’s sudden change in availability 100 minutes before the tip of Wednesday’s game sparked debate across the sports media and social media landscape, especially since she did not appear on the day-before injury report released on Tuesday. Fortunately for the Fever, Clark’s absence did not hurt the Fever in their dominant win over the Fire
On the Fever’s injury report released Friday evening, the former Hawkeye was listed as available. That is an upgrade from her probable designation in the initial injury report on Thursday night.
Fans have grown a bit suspicious of the Fever’s injury-reporting practices, and the WNBA handed down a warning for the latest fiasco. However, Clark’s return suggests her back soreness may have been relatively minor.
The Fever and Valkyries will tip off from Gainbridge Fieldhouse at 6:30 p.m. CT, with the game nationally broadcast on ION.
