Stop the misinformation about Israel
Those of us who are steeped in Jewish values don’t all suffer from suicidal empathy. Self-preservation is a Jewish value. The Anti-Defamation League, like many American Jews, helped lead the broad fight for civil rights. Founded in 1913, the ADL mission is “to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all.” Now, many Jews feel abandoned by their former allies. Like many, the authors of this story choose to believe widely spread Hamas propaganda. The ADL, American Israel Public Affairs Committee, and most individuals who support these organizations support peace and a two-state solution and do not object to criticism of the Israeli government. What we object to is libel, lies and misrepresentation. Slogans and lies have led to movements that have justified or minimized violence against Jews.

Iguana article revels in their deaths
Although I can appreciate wanting to deal with the problem of the invasive and sometimes nuisance iguanas, I am not terribly comfortable with the tone of the article. It strikes me as appealing to a less than admirable part of human nature, the taking of pleasure in the killing of another creature. Iguana hunter and guide Mike Kimmel says of people getting an iguana: “It’s become the funniest part of our day.” To each his own I guess, but it’s one thing to tackle the problem of iguanas, and quite another to revel in their deaths.

Columnist must want an autocratic president
Regarding Nicole Russell’s Dec. 26 article where she attacks Democrats and [President] Biden’s Justice Department and FBI for the classified documents investigation at Mar-a-Lago and the effort to get the Jeffrey Epstein documents released: It seems Ms. Russell left out or forgot about the numerous requests the FBI and special counsel Jack Smith had given to [President] Trump to return them. Not only did Trump not comply but he attempted to hide them.
When dealing with the Epstein documents Trump fought the release and threatened Republican members of Congress who voted to have them released while he campaigned on releasing them while ruining for office. When it comes to running the government, Trump wants to do it by executive orders, firing inspector generals and anyone not deemed to be loyal to him. He has turned the Justice Department into his personal retribution force. So Ms. Russell, if you think that is the way to run the government then you probably will be quite happy with an autocratic president who controls the media, the courts and has own little army to keep order the way he wants, while disregarding democracy.
