After trading down and selecting Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor at No. 12 overall in the 2026 NFL draft, the Miami Dolphins moved up from No. 30 to No. 27 to take San Diego State cornerback Chris Johnson.
It was a bit of a surprise that Johnson was a first-round pick and the second cornerback taken in this year’s draft, as Tennessee’s Jermod McCoy was still on the board. However, McCoy’s knee injury may have led to Miami’s decision to take Johnson.
Heading into 2026, Johnson could be the Dolphins’ top cornerback in a room that includes several veteran free-agent signings on one-year deals. While that may be a lot to throw on a rookie, the 21-year-old has plenty of experience, appearing in 47 games for the Aztecs.
Let’s actually take a look at some of Johnson’s best moments in his four seasons at San Diego State.
