The Iowa Department of Transportation is closing Interstates 35 and 80 overnight for emergency repair work over Walnut Creek.
Here’s what to know.
When will Iowa DOT close I-80/35?
Lanes will be closed on Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25, between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. The road closures will extend from the southwest mixmaster to Iowa Highway 141.
On Friday, southbound I-35 and westbound I-80 will be closed.
On Saturday, northbound I-35 and eastbound I-80 will be closed.
Where’s the detour when Iowa DOT closes I-35 and I-80?
When northbound I-80/35 is closed: Drivers will exit onto eastbound Interstate 235 at the mixmaster, exit at Valley West Drive and head north through 100th Street and Urbandale Drive before returning to the Interstate at the Iowa 141 interchange.
When southbound I-80/35 is closed: Drivers will exit at Iowa 141 and head south on Urbandale Drive. They’ll continue through 100th Street and Valley West Drive. Drivers can use I-235 westbound to continue through the mixmaster to I-80 westbound or I-35 southbound.
