Interstate 75 traffic came to standstill for hours on Wednesday (July 22).
The apprehension of a murder suspect from St. Petersburg led to a massive response by The Florida Highway Patrol and Lee County Sheriff’s Office near Alico Road in Lee County (exit 128). The suspect was barricaded on the interstate.
All lanes on I-75 where shutdown, causing miles-long backup in both directions.
Just before 5 p.m. the Florida Department of Transportation said the northbound outside lanes were open.
