The Palm Beach Post’s Spring All-County teams are here!
The Post is proud to announce the Player of the Year nominees for boys weightlifting. Player of the Year winners will be announced at the Palm Beach County High School Sports Awards, which will be held at the SoFi Center on the Palm Beach Gardens campus of Palm Beach State College on May 28.
Award winners have been contacted by staff with invitations to attend the show, which is produced with support from Baptist Health Orthopedic Care.
First team selections include multiple state champions, runner-ups and top podium finishers. Members of the honorable mention team were at least Top 10 finishers at the FHSAA state meet or regional champions in their respective weight divisions.
First Team All-County Boys Weightlifting
Maverick Davila, Dr. Joaquin Garcia
State champion in Class 2A 139-pound Olympic lift; runner-up in Traditional; Regional champion in Traditional, Olympic lifts; District champion in Traditional, Olympic lifts.
Jamarkus Emerson, Forest Hill
State runner-up in Class 3A 154-pound Olympic lift, eighth place in Traditional; Regional champion in Traditional, Olympic lifts; District champion in Traditional, Olympic lifts.
Javier Flores, Glades Central
Third place in Class 1A 139-pound Traditional lift, third place in Olympic; Regional champion in Traditional, Olympic lifts; District champion in Traditional, Olympic lifts.
Manuel Hodgman, Jupiter
State champion in Class 3A 119-pound Olympic lift, runner-up in Traditional; Regional champion in Traditional, Olympic lifts; District champion in Traditional, Olympic lifts.
Elan Mostun, Olympic Heights
State runner-up in Class 3A 169-pound Olympic lift; Regional champion in Traditional, Olympic lifts; District champion in Traditional, Olympic lifts.
Tyce Porcher, King’s Academy
State runner-up in Class 1A 199-pound Traditional lift, state runner-up in Olympic lift; Regional champion in Traditional, Olympic lifts; District champion in Traditional, Olympic lifts.
Honorable Mention
Coach of the Year
Hassan-Shareef Champion, King’s Academy
Champion’s Lions were the only squad to crack the team Top 10 this season at the FHSAA state championships. King’s tied for sixth in the Class 1A Olympic lifts and tied for 14th in Traditional. King’s Academy swept with wins in both lifts at the regional and district championships.
