The FSU softball program has been far more active in the transfer portal this season than normal under head coach Lonni Alameda. The Seminoles have had five players exit the program through the portal, with two more coming in.
This comes after they did not add or lose a single player in the portal following the 2025 season. While the losses of All-Americans Isa Torres and Jaysoni Beachum are big, Brady Vernon of Softball America has been impressed by FSU’s additions of Ella Dodge and Nicole Edmiaston.
The Noles are losing Isa Torres, and Jaysoni Beachum is still hurt, but the additions of Nicole Edmiaston and Ella Dodge help offset the All-American departures. Edmiaston can be a plug-and-play at first base, a spot that’s sorta been a rotation for Florida State for the past few years. Her natural power is probably the best of the four players. Dodge can either play second or third base, allowing Florida State a lot of options with their young core. The former Tennessee infielder may not have the best batting average, but she has a knack for the clutch moment. Ultimately, the Noles will still have a good amount of extra-base power to pair with their very good pitching staff.
Dodge spent the past three years with the Tennessee Volunteers, redshirting in 2024 before becoming a starter. She finished the 2026 season hitting .285 with 13 doubles, 11 home runs, and 46 RBI. She is ranked as the 10th best player in the portal by Softball America and brings postseason experience to Tallahassee.
Edmiaston had a breakout season at Stetson, being named the ASUN Player of the Year after rewriting the Stetson record books, breaking the program records for home runs (23), RBI (70), and total bases (153). The Seminoles needed to add power to a lineup that lost two of its top three home run hitters a season ago, and Edmiaston has plenty to spare.
