Riviera mom charged with murder of her 7-year-old daughter

RIVIERA BEACH — A Riviera Beach woman was arrested Friday on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse in the death of her 7-year-old daughter.

Naikishia L. Williams, who turns 32 on Sunday, was indicted by a grand jury June 25 on the two charges following the death earlier this year of Williams’ daughter, identified in news reports as Nia Williams.

At about 8 p.m. on April 28, Riviera Beach Police officers responded to 1501 W. 15th St. in reference to an unresponsive 7-year-old child, police said. Medical personnel took the child to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

The child’s death “was determined to be a homicide” after an investigation, police said, and Naikishia Williams was identified as a suspect. Early Friday, June 27, she was taken into custody and transported to the Palm Beach County Jail, where she is being held without bail.
