Reported Trump Mobile phone leak puts customer data at risk

Anyone who pre-ordered the Trump Mobile T1 phone may be in for a surprise, and it’s not the delivery of a new phone.

Instead, it appears that the Trump Mobile website may have a massive security vulnerability that would allow an attacker to gain access to customer data.

Virtually all of Trump Mobile’s customer data can be exposed through the vulnerability. It appears that customer credit card information was the only information not accessible.

The reported exploit came to light after an unnamed individual claiming to be a security researcher reached out to prominent YouTubers, Coffeezilla and penguinz0 (better known as MoistCr1TiKaL), who have previously covered the Trump phone.

Coffeezilla, who has accumulated more than 4.5 million subscribers by making videos exposing scams, and penguinz0 (better known as MoistCr1TiKaL), who has 18 million subscribers, both confirmed that the personal details the researcher had were accurate.

The researcher has attempted to contact Trump Mobile and associated parties, but said he hasn’t heard back from any of them, according to the videos. He reached out to the YouTubers in an attempt to put public pressure on the company to fix what Coffeezilla described as a “low-hanging fruit” exploit.

“It’s not complicated,” Coffeezilla said in his video. “I’m not a computer expert, but even I can understand the mechanics of it, meaning it’s very low-hanging fruit.”

Coffeezilla and penguinz0 also reached out to the Trump Mobile team, independent from the researcher, but had no luck speaking with anyone.

Trump Mobile may have only sold a fraction of the phones it claimed

The researcher reportedly gain insights into the actual number of Trump Mobile customers and phone orders, which appears to be a very small fraction of the sales the company claimed.

Leaked data showed that there were about 10,000 unique customer IDs and about 30,000 orders for the Trump T1 phone, which is just 5% of the 600,000 sales Trump Mobile reported.
