Following the Jacksonville Jaguars’ impressive Week 5 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, let’s take a closer initial look at Travis Hunter’s performance.
After playing only nine defensive snaps against San Francisco a week ago, Hunter’s role this week at cornerback was much larger.
Against a speedy group of Chiefs’ receivers, the Jaguars prioritized Hunter being on the field more, with him playing 25 of the team’s 68 defensive snaps, according to PFF.
Also in the mix with Hunter at the cornerback spot opposite of Tyson Campbell was Montaric Brown.
Hunter would make two tackles on defense and in coverage allowed one reception on three targets for only seven yards.
Then, on offense, Hunter played another 35 snaps. In total, the Jaguars had 58 snaps on this side of the ball.
Hunter would catch all three of the passes that came his way, totaling 64 yards.
On two of those receptions, we saw Hunter’s YAC ability on display with the way he’s able to make defenders miss.
On the other reception, Hunter showcased his ball skills, adjusting to a downfield throw from Trevor Lawrence that was contested as well. The 44-yard catch is the longest of Hunter’s career.
Along with the plays Hunter made in the passing game, he was sent in motion often as well.
With each week, Hunter is getting more comfortable on each side of the ball, and his impact is growing.
