Trump red flags World Cup
Even soccer? Yes, even soccer. Our president who was the recipient of a made-up peace award from FIFA, now has put his stink on the World Cup, which to this point has been a wonderful event. [President] Trump could not help but put his corrupt thumb on the scale. Now a dark cloud hangs over the U.S. team. My view of Trump; I see Al Capone in the movie, The Untouchables, walking around that table with his baseball bat in hand, then beating the brains out of the one who challenged him.

Recognize history’s pain behind our 250th
Slavery in America lasted roughly 246 years, from 1619 until 1865. Almost immediately afterward, the Ku Klux Klan emerged and used murder, lynching, intimidation and terror against newly freed Black Americans and their supporters during Reconstruction. Black Americans endured Jim Crow laws, disenfranchisement and racial violence well into the 20th century.
Nearly 100 years after slavery, America began implementing affirmative action policies, which sought to address generations of unequal access to education and employment. Over time, affirmative action expanded to include women, Hispanics, Asians and other groups. That program was later challenged, leading the U.S. Supreme Court to limit race-conscious admissions. Reasonable people can disagree about whether affirmative action should continue, but from my perspective, there is something remarkable about America.
This nation tolerated slavery and segregation. Yet, it also produced constitutional amendments and civil rights laws that provided opportunity for descendnts of slaves. This progress came through the sacrifice and persistence of generations who challenged America to become better than it once was. America has shown the capacity to criticize and reform itself, while striving toward its ideals. That doesn’t erase the suffering of the past, but it does say something important about this country.

When it comes to Gaza, talk is cheap
Veritably every day I read an article critical of Israel.
My Democratic Party seems to love criticizing Israel with every defensive action it takes. Republicans are getting into the act, too. I have read nothing about the Gaza Palestinians and their government run by Hamas’ refusal to abide by the agreement they entered to end the Gaza conflict. To end the conflict Hamas agreed to surrender their weapons so they could no longer harass Israel.
A while back [President] Trump said Hamas had to surrender their weapons or have them forcefully taken away. Nothing has happened since, except that Hamas has stated they will now never surrender their weapons. Those Hamas weapons started the whole conflict as we know it, but no one is talking about that. Ignore the past and it will repeat itself. Ignore Hamas’ weapons which they agreed to surrender and Hamas will attack Israel again and Israel will counterattack and people will die.
Come on everyone. Let’s do something about this to really end the fighting.
