Lawrence North wide receiver Monshun Sales continues to rise in the national rankings.
The 6-5, 205-pound Sales checked in at No. 7 in Rivals’ new five-star recruiting rankings for the 2027 graduating class. Sales is the only in-state prospect among the 23 players overall listed as five-star recruits and one of two still uncommitted for college.
In its scouting summary, Rivals assesses Sales as a “high upside wide receiver prospect with an elite combination of size and speed. Checks in at around 6-foot-4.5, 205 pounds with 32.25-inch arms and 9-inch hands. Posts excellent marks on the track, especially at his size, running 10.81 seconds in the 100 meters and 21.4 seconds in the 200 meters. A vapor trail on vertical routes. Has the potential to take the top off of defenses with regularity. Shows quality tracking skills, locating the football over his shoulder. Competitive as a blocker and physical while working as a safety. Finished his junior season with 37 catches for 794 yards and 9 touchdowns. Still adding nuance to his game as a route-runner. Would like to see him continue to add to his catch radius and become more of a mismatch in contested catch situations given his size. Has the potential to be the top wide receiver prospect in the cycle with continued development.”
The big question now: Where will Sales commit to college? That answer will come soon enough. Sales plans to announce his decision at noon Friday on the Pat McAfee Show. The finalists are Indiana, Texas, Alabama, Ohio State and LSU.
There is plenty of hope locally that IU can add Sales to its recruiting haul, which currently includes 16 players in the 2027 high school class. Brownsburg wide receiver Branden Sharpe, a four-star prospect, is currently the highest ranked player in the IU recruiting class. Noblesville offensive tackle Mason McDermott and Michigan City offensive tackle Jeremiah Jones are the other in-state prospects committed in the class.
Sales is the No. 2 receiver in the country according to Rivals behind Texas commit Easton Royal, who is ranked No. 3 overall. Notre Dame has commitments from four five-star recruits: defensive lineman Daivd Folorunsho (No. 9), offensive lineman Albert Simien (No. 10), edge rusher Abraham Sesay (No. 16), and offensive lineman Oluwasemilore Olubobola (No. 20).
Sales caught 37 passes for 794 yards and nine touchdowns as a junior for Lawrence North and made 56 tackles from his safety position.
