'Person of interest' named after homicide deaths of Florida couple

The son identified Feb. 24 as a “person of interest” by Fort Pierce Police following the homicide deaths of his parents is 55-year-old Philip Repaci, according to police officials.

Repaci was arrested Feb. 24 by Indian River County Sheriff’s investigators on a fleeing/attempting to elude a police officer charge in the 4000 block of 41st Avenue, according to records.

Police entered the man’s tag number into a license plate reading system and were able to track the vehicle to Indian River County.

Fort Pierce Police Chief David Smith said investigators about 12:30 p.m. Feb. 24 went to a welfare check at a Harbour Isle condominium on Hutchinson Island after receiving a call from the couple’s daughter.

When investigators entered the condo, they found a husband and wife — both in their 80s — in the living room with what was believed to be multiple gunshot wounds.

Smith has said the couple’s 55-year-old son is a “person of interest.”

“We know that he was here, we know he left the scene shortly before the arrival of officers,” Smith said.

Police Maj. Michael Santiago on Feb. 25 said Repaci was the son.

Santiago said Fort Pierce police detectives interviewed Repaci on Feb. 24 in Indian River County.

The names of the deceased were not released as of Feb. 24.
