The West Palm Beach Police Department is asking the public to help identify a driver who fled after hitting and killing a 28-year-old bartender at O’Shea’s Irish Pub on his ride home from work early July 6.
Officers responded to the 4900 block of South Olive Avenue, at about 1:50 a.m. and found Connor Blais dead in the road, an electric scooter nearby. Police said the driver fled without stopping to help Blais or report the crash.
Investigators believe the car that hit him was damaged either on its front end or passenger side.
News of Blais’ death prompted an outpouring of grief on social media, where friends, coworkers and customers described him as a beloved bartender.
They, along with detectives, are asking residents along South Olive Avenue, between Russlyn Drive and Pilgrim Road, to review their security-camera recordings from 1:20 a.m. to 1:50 a.m. in hopes of identifying the driver.
Anyone with information should contact Detective Mark Hatfield at the West Palm Beach Police Department at 561-822-1784. Tipsters who want to stay anonymous can call Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County at 1-800-458-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip through the Crime Stoppers website.
