We’re just one week away from a Goodland tradition, the annual Spammy Jammy at the Little Bar in Goodland.
The event, held to mark the beginning of summer and ward off hurricanes, is known for its unique blend of Spam-themed activities and pajama-clad attendees.
The event also features live music and a Spam sculpture contest.
It starts with a kickoff party at 7:30 p.m., June 27, with Raiford Starke, aka The Starke Raving Spam Band.
Then at noon, June 28, Merrill performs; followed by Raiford Starke at 4 p.m. and Dan Signor at 8 p.m.

Goldenrod Bridge repair postponed
The repair of the Goldenrod Bridge scheduled to begin June 16, has been postponed, according to the city. It will now occur in mid-July.
The city promises to provide updates as the new construction date nears.
‘Sunshine and Storms’ giveaway
Sunshine Ace Hardware wants to help Southwest Floridians prepare for hurricane season with a chance to win supplies.
The top prize is a Generac Generator GP Series 120/240 V Gas Portable 6500W valued at $900. Other giveaways include three prize baskets, each valued at $100, that contain hurricane essentials for the home, including a cooler, battery-operated fan, batteries and additional items to complete a hurricane supply kit.
“Many people wait until we’re in the forecast cone before assessing their hurricane supplies and making a shopping list,” said Michael Wynn, president of Sunshine Ace Hardware. “We’re hoping the giveaway encourages Southwest Florida residents to stock up early, and when they’re in the store, they can register for the giveaway.”
Sunshine Ace Hardware will select winners during a live Facebook broadcast starting at noon on Tuesday, Aug. 5. No purchase is necessary to enter the giveaway; entrants must be residents of Southwest Florida who are able to pick up prizes in person, and they can only enter once.
