NFL analyst ranks Dolphins QB above two Super Bowl winners in 2026

The Miami Dolphins have a new starting quarterback for the 2026 season, after they released former first-round pick Tua Tagovailoa and signed Malik Willis to a three-year contract.

Willis joins the Dolphins after spending two years with the Tennessee Titans and two more with the Green Bay Packers and finding varying levels of success with both franchises thus far.

Heading into his first opportunity to be a team’s starter out of camp, no one knows how Willis will perform in South Florida in 2026. However, former NFL quarterback and analyst Chris Simms seems to be a believer in his talent.

“I think he’s got superstar talent,” Simms said of Miami’s quarterback. “I know the film is limited. But the film is superstarish too. His best throws are up there with the superstars of the sport. His athletic ability and what he does there is incredible.”

In his 2026 quarterback rankings, which Simms is releasing daily, Willis came in at No. 19 of the 43 quarterbacks on the list. That’s ahead of some big names, including Tagovailoa (No. 36), Kirk Cousins (No. 34), Kyler Murray (No. 30), Aaron Rodgers (No. 26), Jalen Hurts (No. 21) and C.J. Stroud (No. 20).

If Willis is better than all of those potential starters in his first year in Miami, general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley would probably be pretty happy with their decision to bring the quarterback with them from Green Bay.
