HCA Florida Venice Doctors Emergency opened for patients Wednesday, June 18, bringing a new emergency medicine option to the Venice area.
The $16.3 million free-standing emergency room at at 901 U.S. Highway 41 Bypass South is a department of HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital, built to bring emergency care close to the island of Venice and along U.S. 41 after the closure of ShorePoint Health Venice in 2022.
“This new, state-of-the-art ER will be staffed with board-certified emergency medicine physicians and nurses, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, just like an emergency room that is housed within the walls of a hospital,” Dr. Nicholas Fusco, Medical Director of Emergency Services at HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital, said in a prepared statement. “Physicians and nurses will treat a range of general and specific conditions, including infections, chest pain and broken bones, and will offer a number of diagnostic services on site.”
The 11,000-square-foot facility is similar to several sister facilities opened by HCA in Charlotte, Manatee and Sarasota counties, accepting both walk-in patients and those arriving by ambulance.
The facilities are open 24/7 and have 11 examination rooms, including one large enough to evaluate trauma patients.
They are designed to provide full emergency services for adults and children, including laboratory, X-rays, CT scanning and ultrasounds.
The facilities are staffed by board-certified emergency medical professionals and designed to serve more than 10,000 patients annually.
“With this opening of this new emergency room, we are expanding access and bringing quality care closer to home for patients in and around Venice,” Joe Rudisill, CEO of HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital. ”While treatments have advanced, our commitment to providing the same personal approach to care remains unchanged since our founding in 1967.”
