Authorities are searching for a driver on the lam after a motorcyclist died during the wee hours of June 30.
The crash happened just before 7 a.m. on Winkler Avenue and affected traffic between Metro Parkway and Evans Avenue for nearly two hours.
Megan Fuentes, spokesperson for Fort Myers Police, said the suspected vehicle was on scene when officers arrived at the crash that happened around 2:45 a.m., but the driver fled on foot.
Fuentes said the motorcyclist died from their injuries on scene.
Police did not have a suspect in custody by publication.
The motorcyclist is one of at least 57 fatalities stemming from Lee County crashes this year.
