Pensacola Police arrested a Louisiana man Sunday night after he allegedly fatally shot an acquaintance at the Budget Inn on Cervantes Street.
Department spokesperson Mike Wood told the News Journal that officers arrested Brenton Tillman June 28 after the PPD received a ShotSpotter notification of gunfire near the Budget Inn around 10 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Wood said Tillman was still at the scene and was arrested without incident.
According to the PPD, Tillman and the man knew each other and had traveled from Louisiana. At some point the two began arguing, which eventually escalated to gunfire.
Tillman is held in Escambia County Jail without bond, according to jail records.
