The Milwaukee Bucks are declining their team option on guard Andre Jackson Jr., The Athletic reported June 29.
The move makes the 24-year-old Jackson an unrestricted free agent. The $2.4 million option would have been fully guaranteed on July 7.
The Bucks drafted the 6-foot-6 Jackson at No. 36 in 2023 after he won a national championship at Connecticut.
He played in 57 games as a rookie, starting eight games.
It looked like Jackson would get a chance in the 2024-25 season in a full season under coach Doc Rivers, who took over for the fired Adrian Griffin in January 2024. Jackson started 43 games, but fell out of favor with Rivers late in the season.
Jackson didn’t play much last season, averaging just 8.5 minutes per game in 48 games.
