Lanes reopen on I-75 in Sarasota County after fatal crash

A fatal crash on Interstate 75 in Sarasota County early Wednesday, June 3, closed northbound lanes for several hours near Venice, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The lanes are now reported to be open, though congestion in the area remains.

The FHP said the fatal crash was reported on I-75 at 4:05 a.m. June 3 at mile marker 193 (Jacaranda Boulevard) near Venice in Sarasota County. Several vehicles were reported to have been involved.

Traffic diverted off I-75 in Sarasota County for hours

All northbound lanes on I-75 at Jacaranda Boulevard were closed for several hours after the early-morning crash.

All lanes were open as of 8:39 a.m., though congestion remains.

No further details on the fatal crash were released.
