“Adam will serve as interim airport director while City management and airport leadership evaluate the strong potential for his permanent appointment to the position,” Sherrouse said in a statement. “I am confident that he will continue to provide the exceptional leadership and professionalism that have defined his career with the City.”

Lunn began his career as an intern at LAL more than 15 years ago in 2011. He has a master’s of business administration from Florida Southern College and a bachelor’s in management from the University of South Florida. Lunn also is a certified member of the American Aviation of Airport Executives, an Airport Certified Employee in Operation and holds private and remote pilot certificates.

“I am both humbled and excited by this opportunity to serve as the interim airport director for Lakeland Linder International Airport,” Lunn said in a statement.  “As one of the nation’s fastest growing and most dynamic airports, our team is ready to continue its mission of providing a safe and reliable airfield for our tenants, users and the flying public.”

Until recently, Lunn served as the airport’s assistant director under Kris Hallstrand. She served 10 years at LAL, and became Lakeland Linder’s director in 2022. Hallstrand negotiated the deal that brought low-budget carrier Avelo Airlines to Lakeland in December 2023.

Hallstrand resigned from the position effective June 12 after accepting a position with Sun ‘n Fun Aerospace Center for Excellence as the director of operations.

“We accomplished a lot of great growth at the airport, bringing in commercial air service,” she said. “I’m excited to see how well it’s done and how the community as embraced it. I’m excited to put a best foot forward at Sun ‘n Fun and see what I can do.

Hallstrand had high praise for Lunn’s ability to lead Lakeland Linder.

“Adam Lunn has all the experience and ability, I’m excited to see where Adam can take this airport next,” she said.
