Pensacola’s Keyla Richardson will perform on the “American Idol” stage tonight after securing a place in the show’s Top 11 last week.
Joining the live audience April 13 in California will be Pensacola Mayor D.C. Reeves and his daughter, Caroline, who will bring signed cards from Richardson’s supporters in Pensacola.

What happened last week on American Idol?
Last week, Keyla Richardson earned a spot in the show’s Top 11, surviving two rounds of eliminations during the April 6 episode.
After first being reduced to 12 contestants at the start of the show, the Top 12 contestants took on the annual Judge’s Song Contest, in which each of the judges chose a song for the contestants centered around ’90s hits.
Richardson ultimately chose Lionel Richie’s “Zombie” by The Cranberries, which stretched her beyond her comfort zone and out of her traditional gospel genre, but she rose to the challenge.

Tonight, the American Idol stage will transform into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night, where contestants will cover songs from Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees. Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, artists inducted into the 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, will mentor the remaining contestants.

Keyla Richardson’s musical journey started in Pensacola
