Jonnu Smith hoping 'his dream team' Dolphins don't trade him

Jonnu Smith is hoping he won’t be traded by the Miami Dolphins, according to his agent.

“Here’s what I will say on behalf of my client: Jonnu would definitely like to stay in Miami,” Smith’s agent Drew Rosenhaus said on WSVN, via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “That’s his first choice. This is where he lives in the offseason. He had a record breaking season last year. It was the best season ever for a Miami Dolphin tight end.

“His dream team is the Dolphins. Hopefully, everything works out where he can stay in Miami.”

Smith, 29, broke the Dolphins’ franchise records for receptions (88), receiving yards (884), and receiving touchdowns (8) in a season by a tight end in 2024. It was his first year with Miami after joining the team on a two-year, $8.4 million deal in free agency.

But after earning Pro Bowl honors with his record-breaking numbers, Smith has reportedly asked for a pay raise heading into the 2025 season. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Smith “wants a lot” and the Dolphins have reportedly looked to the trade market rather than agree to the tight end’s request.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Dolphins have spoken with the Pittsburgh Steelers about a deal involving Smith.

Behind Smith on the depth chart at the tight end are Pharaoh Brown, Julian Hill, and Tanner Conner.
