Florida A&M baseball’s Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals game will have to wait.
Originally scheduled for Friday, May 22, at 7 p.m. Eastern Time, the three-seeded Rattlers (29-22) will now meet the two-seed Southern Jaguars (29-22) on Saturday, May 23, at 1 p.m. Eastern Time.
The Southern-Texas Southern game was also moved from Friday afternoon to an evening start at 9 p.m. Southern won 6-4 to eliminate No. 6 Texas Southern.
The SWAC Tournament, played at Birmingham, Alabama’s Rickwood Field, has been affected by rain during the five-day playoff.
FAMU has gone perfect in the double-elimination bracket, beating Texas Southern 8-6 in the opening round and then defeating Southern 15-6 behind a hitting masterclass by All-SWAC First Teamer Jackson McKenzie.
Southern must beat the Rattlers twice to advance to the SWAC Championship game. If the Southern Jaguars can win Saturday’s 1 p.m. matchup, they will play FAMU in an elimination game later that day at 7 p.m.
Since it has no tournament losses, FAMU heads to the title game with just one win over Southern.
The SWAC Tournament championship game is Sunday, May 24, at 2 p.m.
The entire SWAC Tournament will be streamed for free on SWAC TV.
