Jacksonville Jaguars training camp observations: Several drops plague offense

The Jacksonville Jaguars opened training camp on July 23 at the Miller Electric Center, in front of spectators who filled about half of the seating areas.

It was a relatively light session but Jaguars coach Liam Coen said he is pleased with the team’s overall conditioning upon their return from a six-week break.

“You do a conditioning test, but the test for a player is playing the game,” he said. “Ultimately, I’m pleased with the way they came in. We’re going to have to get in football shape. That’s the reality. They can get in conditioning shape all they want but football shape is a completely different thing. I think it will probably take a couple of days to really feel like we’re not dying out there.”

Coen said the goal is for the team “to have legs” when the regular season begins Sept. 7.
