7-Eleven celebrating 98th birthday in 2025
7-Eleven started in 1927 from the dock of an ice house, in Dallas, Texas.
In the 1950s, new stores opened in Florida, Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania but it wasn’t until 1963 that the first 7-Eleven stayed open all night, accommodating students in Austin, Texas.
“The 24/7 idea is a hit and soon catches on in other locations.”
In 1965, the 7-Eleven launched the Slurpee.
Today, it has more than 85,000 stores in 19 countries, including 1,019 in Florida, according to data company scrapehero.
