On Saturday, March 14, I witnessed a very sad thing.
Around 2 p.m. – on a day of clear blue skies, 80-degree temperature and moderate humidity – Gillespie Park was totally devoid of human life.
Even the tennis courts were barren.
I’ve lived in the neighborhood for 38 years and I’ve never seen it so totally empty of public life.
What happened?
