In-state safety recruit locks in visit with Florida State

2028 three-star safety Cyion Smith has been committed to Mississippi State since last October. However, he has a long history with Florida State.

He showed up on campus for the first time for a camp back in June of 2024. That September, he took an unofficial visit when FSU played Boston College. Smith took three trips to Tallahassee in 2025, and he also attended one of Florida State’s Junior Day events in January.

Smith is set to return once again. He announced via his social media that he will take an unofficial visit to see the Seminoles on April 11.

As a sophomore in 2025, Smith was a dominant force. He racked up 50 tackles, four tackles for loss, seven interceptions, 10 pass breakups, and one fumble recovery. Smith was also very productive as a freshman in 2024 as he registered 64 tackles, one tackle for loss, four interceptions, 12 pass breakups, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries.

Rivals industry rankings have Smith as the No. 210 overall prospect and the nation’s No. 12 safety. In the state of Florida, he’s the No. 28 recruit.
